Final Remix Object

My partner was supportive of the sketch I used for my final design. They thought it was inventive as the abstraction of the bird by combining it with a lamp reminded them of heating lamps for chickens. It didn't really affect much of my decision to make this my finished piece as I was pretty dead set on doing this sketch as my final draft beforehand, but it was very interesting hearing what this sketch reminded them of. My creation relates to Remix Culture. It relates to this culture as the process of taking already existing media and combining them together to create a new creation. The models used within this piece are not made by me and were instead taken from the site: Thingiverse. I just combined these items together. This act of combining in itself is also another characteristic of Remix Culture. I combined them in order to juxtapose the mechanical parts of the desk lamp and the biological body of a bird. The idea behind the desk lamp is also juxtaposed, as it now relates to

REMIX CULTURE: Remix culture is the act of combining two or more already existing media and combining them together to create a new form of media. This is most shown within remixed songs, which may take snippets from one song and incorporate it into their own song. This form of art-making often calls into question this culture's copyright laws and the possible violation of them, as this form of art-making is taking already existing media to create something new with it. Oftentimes, this art culture uses this use of intellectual properties to make statements.  REMIXED OBJECTS:   Gee Bee Airplane by skipstitch - Thingiverse DesktopHero3D Wings by onebilliamdollars - Thingiverse For this plane object, I specifically wanted to combine something organic and something non-organic. I took a model of a plane and replaced its wings with bird wings to portray this as they both share the concept of flight, but are different in design and function to achieve flight.   Biodegradable Phones Sketch Design I made this sketch model of a biodegradable phone inspired by the topics involving objects in the documentary film " Objectified " by Gary Hustwit. The later part of the documentary discusses the material of objects in our day-to-day lives and how they are disposed of at some point. It talks about how these objects we use are made of materials that aren't eco-friendly, making their longevity prolonged even when the functionality of that item is long overdue to us as consumers. Therefore, I thought of a phone model that is eco-friendly in its material. I specifically chose a phone as it is an item that many people have and involves heavily in their lives, and is often discarded due to a newer model coming out every other year and such. Even when this phone would be no longer of use to us consumers, its material would allow it to not overdue its stay within the trash bins it will eventually find itself in. I imagine that this phone would
